Surgical Care Close to Home

When a pet needs surgery, being able to get it done locally, by doctors who already know your animal, makes a difference. Troy Animal Clinic performs a broad range of surgical procedures in-house, making it a destination for pet owners across Pike County and the surrounding region who want quality surgical care without driving to a major city.

Our two full-time veterinarians are the only two-doctor veterinary practice Pike County. That staffing level isn’t just about availability. It means that when surgery is scheduled, your pet is seen by an experienced clinician, not squeezed in between a full appointment schedule.

What We Perform

We handle the majority of surgical needs for dogs and cats, including routine procedures and more involved soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. If a procedure requires a board-certified specialist, we will let you know directly and help coordinate a referral.

Patient Safety Comes First

Every surgical patient at Troy Animal Clinic receives a pre-anesthetic evaluation. Depending on your pet’s age, health history, and the procedure involved, pre-surgical bloodwork may be recommended to assess organ function and confirm they are a safe anesthesia candidate.

During surgery, patients are monitored continuously. Our team tracks heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature throughout the procedure. A team member remains with your pet from the time anesthesia is induced until they are fully awake and stable in recovery.

We will call you as soon as your pet is out of surgery and review aftercare instructions thoroughly before discharge.
